Walk : A pleasant family walk along the beach In summer. Best early in the morning or in the evening
History : The Capitello tower (diameter 13.50m and 11 meters high) stands at the mouth of the river protecting the north entry to Porticcio. It is one of the first towers built by the l’office de St Georges in the XVI century. In later years it had a notable visitor, in 1793 Bonaparte, who was later to become Napoleon was besieged here by the Paolistes before fleeing to Toulon.
Itinerary : Starting point at the tourist office on the pontoon in Porticcio. Walk along the beach in the direction of Ajaccio until you reach the Genoese tower of Capitello.
Be careful, this is not a coastal path but a walk in the sand.
