Description : 1h30. For the round trip to the tower, or 3h/4h for the whole walk of places.
History : Built between 1580 and 1617, on the north coast of Capo di Muro, the tower of the same name was part of the jurisdiction of Ajaccio. Guarded by a chief and two soldiers, it was privatised in the 17th century and then assigned to the lighthouses and beacons in 1857. Today it is a listed historical monument.
Itinerary : From Porticcio, take the D55 towards Propriano. Pass the beautiful beaches of the south shore: Agosta, the Ruppione and Mare e Sole. 500m after the village of Acqua Doria, take the road forking right towards Capo di Muro. At the next junction, turn right.
The path is a small track that slopes gently down into the scrub. At the first crow’s feet, turn right. The path descends through the scrubland, which is a little higher at this point. Discover the remains of walls and stairs, you are now not far from the Genoese tower. It appears at the bend in the vegetation, standing out in the middle of the surrounding maquis. In good weather, you can also enjoy an incredible view of the Gulf of Ajaccio.
